Minecraft is a very popular game that has been played by both PC and Mac users, with the latter recently receiving access to the Pocket Edition. If you aren’t familiar with Minecraft, it’s basically a sandbox building game where you can create anything your imagination desires in blocks of various shapes and sizes. The only limit is physics; no matter how big you make something, as long as it has support underneath it will remain standing.
Minecraft is a lot of fun for those who have creative minds that can come up with wonderful things to create. Unfortunately for those without the right imagination, building things in Minecraft isn’t very easy because of its blocky nature and lack of detail textures. However, Minecraft does have Shaders, which are special effects that you can apply to your game.
How install minecraft shaders
Minecraft shaders are made for computers that can support them. You can find out whether or not your computer meets these requirements by visiting the minecraft forums where all of the latest updates, news, and information about Minecraft is located.
One thing to keep in mind when installing Shaders is to only install 1 at a time so you know which one is causing problems. Installing more than one Shader at a time can cause your game to crash, leaving you in an endless loop of nothingness that makes you have to shut down the program in order to get your normal computer screen back.
What are shaders and what do they do in Minecraft
Once you have decided which Shader you want to install (they can be found by searching Minecraft Shaders on Google), all you need to do is download the appropriate file. When it has finished downloading, open your minecraft folder and find the shaders folder; copy and paste the downloaded files into the shaders folder. Extract these files by right clicking them and going into the Winrar folder. If you don’t have a program that can open Zip files, look up a tutorial on YouTube or Google about how to download Winzip from your website of choice.
Once you have extracted these Shader files they will automatically be placed in Minecraft. All you need to do is play Minecraft and press F3 to bring up the debug menu. After pressing it you will see a note that says “Shaders: OFF” and directly under it there is a bright green button that says “Shaders: On”. Click on this and select either one of the Shaders you have downloaded and they should immediately be applied.

What happens when you download an incompatible shader for Minecraft
If you happen to download a Shader that is not compatible with your version of Minecraft, it will cause your game to crash and won’t let you get back on without restarting the program. If this has happened to you, all you need to do is remove the Shader pack from your shaders folder, restart Minecraft, and go back into F3 mode. This time around it should read “Shaders: OFF” instead of crashing when you try to press Shaders: On.
